Learning Reiki

Learning to become a Reiki Channel/Reiki Practitioner

If you have decided up on learning Reiki, you are to be congratulated for having given yourself such a wonderful gift.

Reiki is traditionally taught in three or four levels. Levels I and II are typically taught in one day class (8 hours) or over a weekend period (16 hours). Class time involves an initiation ritual called an attunement and learning the hand placements for self treatments as well as treating others. Level III or Advanced Reiki Training (ART) is generally a more intensive course of study and teaches the process of Psychic Surgery and using the Crystal Grid for healing. You are encouraged to learn this if you are guided to take Reiki healing for others as a committed healer.

Getting ready for becoming a Reiki Practitioner

Take special care while selecting your Reiki Master. Ideally, take time to meet and speak with your Reiki instructor.

Schedule your class date at least one week in advance.

Avoid or reduce eating meat, chicken, or fish at least 3 days prior to your class date.

Avoid consuming alcohol for at least 3 days prior to the attunement.

Continue to take any kind of medication as prescribed by the doctor if you are on it, before and on the day of attunement.

Smokers should take care to smoke as little as possible for the day prior to the class date and on the day of the attunement.

Avoid outside media stimulation (tv, radio, computers, movies, newspapers) and social situations like parties and get-togethers, disco.

Make ‘Quiet Time’ for yourself, in solitude. If you know, do your meditation and spend time with nature (walks, sitting by a stream, watching the sunrise, sunset, etc.)

Be gentle with yourself. Don’t tackle any tasks that will deplete your energies.

Drink plenty of water.

Get a good night’s rest the evening before your class. In the morning if you are not fasting, eat a light healthy breakfast.

Tips:

Be prepared for a 21 day cleansing period following the attunement process.

Connection with your inner guidance is recommended during this period.

If you are in a doctor’s care you may visit to re-check the dosage of medicine you are using after the 21 day releasing/balancing period.

The Reiki Attunement Process and its significance

Reiki attunements open and expand the Ki-holding capacity or the Hara Line or Kundalini energy center. The Attunement clears energy blockages and opens a channel for the Reiki energy to flow from practitioner to the client. The more a practitioner uses Reiki the clearer and stronger the flow becomes. The attunement process is what makes Reiki stand apart from other types of healing systems. Although other healing arts may use hand positions on the client, only Reiki has the wonderful benefit of the attunement process. For this reason, you cannot learn Reiki through reading about it, it has to be experienced. As you give reiki healing and empowerment to others, Reiki heals you as well, as it flows through you. If you choose to do so, Reiki can become a way of life for you.
